Developmental editing
This is editing at its most intense, for projects that need a lot of attention to detail and serious reworking. Perfect for critical revise-and-resubmit situations or when your goal is to prevent a desk reject for an important paper.
Two levels of developmental

An intense level of editing, for projects that need great attention to detail and serious reworking. Perfect for critical revise-and-resubmit projects.
A level of editing one higher than "Developmental," including a separate summary and commentary, including advice on how
the author could further strengthen the paper.

What to expect from a
Developmental edit
What I do in developmental editing is like text surgery: I cut, I add, I move around, I advise, but in the end, my goal is to save the patient and make her stronger and more resilient. My "text surgeries" are also long. I invest around five minutes per word over many days and multiple rounds of editing to bring a submitted text to more-closely align my clients' written text to their intended meaning.

What to expect from a
Developmental Plus edit
Basically, everything you get from a "Developmental" edit, but more. Expect a higher level of editing, more comments, plus, a separate written editing summary and commentary with advice and suggestions for further improving the paper.
