EXPERIENCE, METRICS, CLIENTS, AND VITA
Number of edited words: over 1,200,000
I have edited over one million words. And if you consider that I edit each project over at least three rounds (and sometimes up to five), then that number multiplied represents a staggering amount of editing experience. The work you submit to me is in trusted, capable hands.
From these projects, I have seen it all: authors who feel stuck in multiple rounds of revise-and-resubmit; resistant and reluctant editors and reviewers who are still not convinced that a manuscript merits publication; and authors’ tangled labyrinth of language that desperately needs to be untangled before the ideas, meaning, and significance can shine through.
My goal for each project is simple: get your writing to a place where it truly represents your ideas and your contribution. While I don’t claim to be perfect, I do promise that every project will be given my full attention and care, with a meticulous amount of effort and dedication.
I am a trained editor who completed the UC Berkeley Extension four-course, 120-hour Professional Editing Sequence. I have a BA from UC Berkeley in history and for many years was a guest author at Smart Business English. I was founding editor of Connections, the journal of the English Language Teachers’ Association of Berlin-Brandenburg. From a single postdoc who asked if I could edit his journal article over 10 years ago, my business has steadily increased by referral only.
I use my editing experience in my writing coaching. I’ve helped clients from the Freie Universität-Berlin and LMU-Munich get dissertations finished and articles and essays published, including in the prestigious journal Science. The subject areas I specialize in are organization studies, business, management, strategy, humanities, and history.
I love working with my academic clients because they are enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated, and I see my work with them as a partnership that I find extremely rewarding.
